Nizonide is used to treat cryptosporidiosis & giardiasis. It also treats clostridium difficile colitis, cryptosporidiosis, viral gastroenteritis, fasciola infection, and intestinal parasitism. It works by inhibiting the production of certain chemicals and substances essential for energy metabolism and the parasite's growth. It inhibits the activity of pyruvate, ferredoxin oxidoreductase, an enzyme necessary for energy metabolism in the parasite.
Nizonide tablet is used alone or in combination with other medications. You are advised to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. You must follow caution as excess consumption leads to serious adverse effects. This medication has to be taken regularly without skipping the dose to see or feel its benefits. Medication must not be stopped unless told by the doctor.
Avoid alcohol consumption while you are on this medicine. Nizonide capsule may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. This medication's most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, vertigo, discoloured urine, fever, and hair loss. If the symptoms persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, breastfeeding & have liver, kidney problems, and use any other medicines. This medication is not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding as it may harm the baby.
