VITCOFER syrup is combinational medication, and it is an iron supplement used to treat anaemia (iron deficiency). it works by providing iron and folate to the body. this syrup improves red blood cells and haemoglobin production in the body in order to provide sufficient oxygen to tissues, which improves body functioning. folic acid and iron syrup are used alone or in combination with other medications. you are advised to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. caution must be followed as excess consumption leads to serious adverse effects. this medication has to be taken for several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits of it. medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. alcohol consumption needs to be avoided while on this medication as it may decrease the absorption of the syrup.
the most common side effects of this medication are stomach cramps, stomach upset, constipation, diarrhoea, black stools, heartburn. if the symptoms persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately.
before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant, or have liver & kidney problems and using any other medications.
