Ugesic capsule belongs to the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat moderate to severe pain in conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It reduces the pain stimuli arising from joints and muscles by blocking certain chemical messengers responsible for inflammation (pain and swelling).
Ugesic capsules should be taken with or after food to avoid stomach upset. The dose and duration of the therapy depend on the severity of the condition. You need to take this medicine as directed by your physician. You are not supposed to stop this medicine upon feeling better. Your doctor will advise you when to stop the medication.
Most common side effects include stomach pain, nausea, headache, mild vomiting and dizziness. If this symptom persists or worsen, kindly consult your doctor immediately as they can suggest alternatives to prevent these effects. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a previous history of stomach ulcers, heart diseases, high blood pressure, and liver and kidney disease.
Inform your doctor if you are on any other medications as they may cause interactions. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are advised to consult the doctor before taking this medication.
