Xovoltib tablet is an anti-cancer medicine used to treat non-small cell lung cancer. It is also used in adult patients who have certain mutations of epidermal growth factor receptors. It works by binding and inhibiting the enzyme receptors (egfr, her2, and her4) responsible for the growth of cancer cells; hence, it results in the downregulation of the signalling pathway.
This medication dose and duration will be given based on your medical condition as prescribed by the doctor. Take this tablet orally on an empty stomach, but try to have it at a fixed time regularly. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping this medication too early may cause serious side effects.
Do not take this medication longer than recommended by the doctor. Your doctor may advise you for some blood tests while you are on treatment. This medication may also make your skin sensitive to the sun, so use sunscreens and wear protective clothing. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any pain or redness in the eye or dry eye.
The medication’s most common side effects are dry skin, diarrhoea, rash, and nausea. If the symptoms persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately. Monitor your blood pressure regularly while taking this medication.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have liver & kidney problems, and using any other medication.
