Ziprasidone hydrochloride capsule is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. It works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain.
You are advised to take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. Please do not stop the medication suddenly. It may lead to neuroleptic malignant syndrome (nms), characterized by fever, muscle rigidity and seizures. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication as it may lead to severe liver damage.
This medication's most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, abnormal vision, weight gain, headache, dizziness, dystonia, akathisia, and diabetes. If the symptoms persist or worsen, you need to consult your doctor immediately. Initially, this medication may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure. Using this medication in females may cause unwanted breast milk, irregular menstrual cycle, and difficulty to conceive. In males, it may cause decreased sexual ability and enlarged chest.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you intend to be pregnant or have diabetes and liver problems. This medication is not recommended in pregnancy or in breastfeeding as it may harm the baby.
