metoclopramide hcl injection is an antiemetic used to treat nausea, vomiting, heartburn, and indigestion. it works by blocking a natural substance (dopamine) in the brain, which causes nausea and vomiting. it also works by speeding the movement of food through the stomach and intestines.
this injection is given by your doctor. you are advised to use the medication as prescribed by your doctor. medication should not be stopped unless it is told by your doctor. inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, as it may cause interactions.
most common side effects include restlessness, fatigue, headache, confusion and sleep problems (insomnia). if the symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor immediately. avoid driving after taking this medication as it may cause drowsiness.
drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration as this drug may cause diarrhoea. avoid consuming alcohol while you are taking this medication because it may worsen your sleepiness.
before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have any liver and kidney diseases.
