Voxidep tablet is a type of antidepressant that belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssris). It is prescribed to treat depression where it helps you feel better.
This drug is also used to treat people with obsessive-compulsive disorder. You can take voxidep with or without food. Your doctor will work out the dose and how often you take it in order to get the right dose to control your symptoms. Your doctor may start you with a lower dose and increase it gradually. Do not change the dose or stop taking it without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well. It may worsen your condition or experience unpleasant withdrawal symptoms (restlessness, palpitations, dizziness, sleep disturbances, etc.).
For maximum benefit, take this medicine at the same time every day. It may take several weeks for you to feel better. Inform your doctor if you do not notice improvement even after four weeks. Voxidep has been reported to have fewer side effects than older antidepressants.
Some common side effects of this drug include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dry mouth, increased sweating, tremors, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), decreased sex drive, delayed ejaculation, and erectile dysfunction. Some people may feel drowsy after taking this medication. Let your doctor know if your mood suddenly deteriorates or you are thinking of hurting yourself.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have epilepsy (seizures or fits), diabetes, liver or kidney disease, heart problems, or glaucoma as it may affect your treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking. Some other drugs can affect how it works, especially other antidepressants and medicines called mao inhibitors. Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking to make sure you are safe.
