Ahabir is used in the treatment of prostate cancer which has spread throughout the body. It works by inhibiting the enzyme, which is responsible for increasing the growth of the prostatic tumour. Take medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. The dose and frequency of the medicine depend upon the age and severity of the disease. Do not miss the dose even if you feel better. The ahabir tablet should be taken on an empty stomach as it may have side effects if taken with food. You must follow caution as excess consumption may lead to serious adverse effects.
This medication has to be taken for several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. Ahabir's most common side effects are weight gain, hyperglycemia, fatigue, decreased lymphocyte count, increased blood pressure, increased sodium levels, joint swelling, oedema, constipation, diarrhoea, cough, sleeplessness, shortness of breath. If the side effects persist or worsen, then inform the doctor immediately.
Ahabir is unsafe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as it may harm the baby. Inform your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant or breastfeeding, suffering from kidney or liver disorders, taking any other medications. Your doctor may advise specific tests on kidney functioning, liver functioning, blood count, ecg before and after the treatment.
