BENIDIN-CH tablet contains two medications benidipine and chlorthalidone. both medications work in different mechanisms.
it is a calcium channel blocker medication. it works by stopping the entry of calcium into cells of the heart and blood vessels. thus it relaxes the blood vessel and improves oxygen to the heart by decreasing the workload on the heart. chlorthalidone belongs to a class of diuretics. it works by wiping out excess water and specific electrolytes from the body by increasing the amount of urine generated. further, it also helps by relaxing blood vessels and increasing blood flow.
this tablet is advised to treat hypertension and decreases your chance of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. drink plenty of fluids while taking medicine to overcome muscle weakness, dry mouth, and extreme thirst.
the most common side effects of this medication are glucose intolerance, dizziness, ankle swelling, headache, flushing, drowsiness, palpitations, nausea, increased blood uric acid, reduced potassium level in blood and altered blood lipid level. most of these side effects present for a shorter duration. if these side effects persist for a longer duration inform your doctor.
