Karacal is used to treat calcium deficiency. It works by preventing damage to the bone. It is used in pregnant women, nursing, and post-menopausal conditions. It avoids other medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, and prednisone.
Karacal is used alone or in combination with other medications. You are advised to take this medication as prescribed by your doctor. This medication has to be taken for several weeks to months. Calcium is essential in the functioning of the nerve cells, muscles and bones. Suppose there is an inadequate amount of calcium level in the blood. In that case, the body will absorb the calcium from bones, thereby weakening the bones. Medication must not be stopped unless told by your doctor. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication as it may lead to severe liver damage.
This medication's most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, stomach upset, swelling in the face, lips, tongue, and shortness of breath.
Before taking this medication, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or intend to be pregnant or have kidney stones, achlorhydria, heart disease, lung disease and malabsorption syndrome. This medication is not recommended in breastfeeding as it may cause harm to the developing baby.
