Swallowing food is an essential part of the digestive process. While there are many kinds of foods to choose from, most people tend to swallow two main types: soft and solid foods.

Soft Foods: Soft foods usually include fruits, vegetables, cooked grains like rice or oats, dairy products like yogurt and milk, eggs, stews and soups. These are easily digestible because they have already been partially processed in one way or another (peeled/chopped/mashed). In general they require less chewing than solid foods which makes them easier to swallow.

Solid Foods: Harder-textured solid foods such as meats (especially red meats with tougher chewy textures), breads and most nuts may need more time to chew before being able to swallow them comfortably. Other examples include unripe bananas, hard cheese varieties like cheddar or gouda cheese etc. Since these typically need more energy for digestion compared to soft ones it's important that you pay attention both while chewing them properly until they become softer in texture as well as when swallowing since any chunk bigger than allowed might cause choking hazards later down the line!
