Anaesthetist · Anaesthesia

After MBBS, the scope of anaesthesiology is tremendous. As an anaesthesiologist, you will have extensive knowledge and experience in pharmacology and physiology that enables you to understand how drugs affect the body’s systems. You will be able to diagnose diseases related to anaesthesia such as cardiac arrest, hypoxia, stroke, brain hemorrhage or a disease caused by changes in blood flow or oxygen levels. You can also administer local and general anaesthesia for surgeries or other medical procedures when required.

Anaesthesiologists are highly sought after by hospitals and private practices due to the fact that they offer a broad range of services throughout all areas of medicine including surgical care as well as emergency treatments for trauma patients. Additionally, anaesthesiologists provide pain management services which include: intubation (breathing management), general sedation (loss of sensation), topical anesthesia (numbing of target areas)and spinals/epidurals (pain relief). In this regard they play an extremely important role in decreasing suffering with effective use of medicines used both during pre-operative phase as well as post operative phase while providing basic life support during any emergency cases like cardiac arrests etc.

The scope doesn't just stop at hospitals though; Anaesthesiologists can also find opportunities in nursing homes, research organizations and even teaching institutions where they can educate future doctors on pertinent topics relating to safety standards within their practice.  In some cases depending upon country regulations there may have options available in military service duty within these same capacities too! Furthermore these professionals may opt for specialisations such s paediatric anaesthesia , cardio thoracic surgery etc., where more detailed skills set may be developed for more specified practices .

Overall it is clear why this field has so much potential; not only does it offer great job security but it gives you the chance to save lives everyday!
