The life expectancy of someone diagnosed with prostate cancer metastasis depends on a variety of factors, including the stage and grade of the cancer, age, overall health and fitness, response to treatment, and other individual characteristics. Generally speaking though, studies suggest that those diagnosed in later stages (after it has spread from the original tumor or lymph nodes) have an average life expectancy ranging from two to three years.
Since prostate cancer is highly treatable when detected early enough - with five-year survival rates for local/regional stages being nearly 100% - it is critical for men over the age of 50 to routinely go in for regular screenings since this can make a tremendous difference in terms of both survival rate and life expectancy.
