Back deformity can refer to a curvature of the spine, which is often called scoliosis. Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that can cause the spine to look like an "S" or "C" shape. Back deformity can also refer to protrusions or abnormalities of the bones in the back, such as scapula wings (protuberances on the shoulder blades) or lumbar lordosis (an excessive curve in the lower back).
