What are the symptoms of spinal tumor?

The symptoms of spinal tumors can vary widely depending on the size and location of the tumor, but common signs include:

Pain: This can range from a mild ache to severe pain in the back or neck. It may be worse at night and when engaging in certain activities.

Weakness or numbness: Weakness or lack of feeling is often experienced along the arms, legs, or other areas that are connected to the nerves linked to one’s spine.

Mobility issues: When a tumor affects mobility by placing pressure on spinal cord nerves, it may cause walking difficulties such as leg dragging, an altered gait pattern, difficulty managing stairs or balance problems.

Changes in bowel and bladder function: Depending on where a tumor has developed along one’s spine this can lead to urinary incontinence. Difficulty with elimination (constipation) and sexual dysfunction have also been reported with some individuals who suffer from spinal tumors.

Other less common symptoms may include fever/chills for no apparent reason; unexplained weight loss; fatigue; headaches where there wasn't an issue before; numbness around parts of your body that weren't previously affected; and/or increased sensitivity to touch in certain spots along your body near or around your spine area. Additionally, if you experience any pain that doesn't go away after a few weeks following activity that could have caused it—an appointment with your doctor should take place soon so they can assess whether these are symptoms related to something else such as nerve compression due to a growing tumor on one's spinal cord.
