Echocardiography is a valuable tool for assessing the health of the heart and its various components. However, there are certain limitations to this technology.

First, echocardiograms do not provide detailed images of coronary arteries and cannot detect blockages or atherosclerotic plaques unless they are very severe. Additionally, it does not always accurately measure pressure inside the chambers of the heart, as it relies on sound waves that may be distorted by fluid in them. It may also be difficult to obtain an accurate image if parts of the patient's anatomy interfere with sound transmission.

Another limitation is that while echocardiogram can reveal information about most structural heart defects, it cannot always tell us whether these have caused any symptoms or problems in patients and therefore cannot predict prognosis reliably in some cases.

Finally, due to its technical complexity and costliness, access to echocardiography is often limited in resources-poor settings such as rural areas or developing countries where cardiac diseases are more prevalent than elsewhere.
