When it comes to lower back pain, squats can potentially be beneficial or harmful depending on certain factors. The most important factor is the underlying cause of your lower back pain. If you have an injury in the muscles, bones, or tendons around your spine then performing a squat could further aggravate and worsen the condition. Additionally, if you are suffering from slipped disc or sciatica then any kind of weight bearing or stretching exercise may not be suitable for you and should be avoided until your doctor gives permission.
However if none of these conditions apply to you, then squats may actually help reduce lower back pain by strengthening and stabilizing the core muscles to give better support for your spine which can reduce pressure on it. It is also important that you follow correct form when squatting in order to get full benefits from it and make sure that there is no additional strain placed on other parts of your body during movement like neck/shoulders/legs etc since improper squatting posture can increase tension in some areas while decreasing tension elsewhere resulting in no benefit at all so professional advice here would go a long way!
