Q. How fast does clear cell renal cancer grow?
Doctor Answer is medically reviewed by SecondMedic medical review team.
Clear cell renal cancer (also known as renal cell carcinoma) is one of the most common types of kidney cancer, and its growth rate depends on several factors. On average, it grows between 1 and 5 millimeters per month – however, some cases may have a faster rate if they are larger in size or more aggressive. In addition to the tumor size and aggressiveness, other factors that can influence its growth speed include genetics, whether it has spread to other parts of the body, and how healthy your immune system is.
The most important factor in determining a clear cell renal cancer's growth rate is early diagnosis. If caught early enough through regular checkups or screenings, treatment can be initiated sooner resulting in slower tumor growth overall. If you suspect something isn't right with your kidneys or feel any signs associated with kidney cancer such as pain in the sides or lower back area lasting for weeks at a time; blood in your urine; unexplained weight loss; fatigue; fever and chills; nausea due to an obstruction from the tumor near either your urethra or bladder resulting in difficulty urinating- seek medical attention immediately as these could all indicate clear cell renal cancer is present.
