There are a few different potential causes of hematuria, so the first step is to determine the underlying cause. For example, if the cause is a urinary tract infection (UTI), then antibiotics will be prescribed to treat the infection. If the cause is a tumor or blood clot, then surgery or other treatments may be necessary.
In some cases, no specific treatment is needed and the hematuria resolves on its own. However, if hematuria persists or recurs frequently, then your doctor may recommend additional tests or treatments to determine and/or treat the underlying cause.
