There are a few key differences between an MD in anaesthesiology and an MS in anaesthesiology. An MD is a medical doctor who has completed 4 years of medical school and then specialty training in anaesthesiology. An MS is a master's degree which may be earned by completing a graduate level program in anaesthesiology or another medical field.

The MD will have more training and experience than the MS, and will typically be certified by the American Board of Anaesthesiology. The MS may have more research experience than the MD, and may be qualified to do research but not to practice as an anaesthesiologist.
