Melitracen works as an antidepressant by decreasing the reabsorption of norepinephrine and serotonin at the synapse resulting in an increased concentration of these chemicals (neurotransmitters) at the nerve end. Flupentixol is an antipsychotic medication. This medication increases the serotonin and noradrenaline amounts by inhibiting the central monoamine receptors(d1 and d2). Thus both medications are used to treat depression by improving mood, reduces anxiety, tension, allows you to sleep adequately and improves your energy levels.
