Ayurveda is a 5000-year-old traditional system of medicine from India that is based on the theory of Vital Energy or "Prana". According to this theory, everything in the universe is composed of five primary elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth), and each person has a unique balance of these elements within their body.
Ayurveda seeks to maintain health by keeping the body's balance of energy in check. This is done by assessing an individual's constitution (known as their "dosha"), and then prescribing dietary and lifestyle changes accordingly. Ayurveda also uses herbal remedies, aromatherapy, and massage to restore balance within the body.
