Aortic aneurysms can be treated with surgery or with medication.
Surgery is the most common treatment for aortic aneurysms. The surgeon will cut open your chest and remove the damaged section of your aorta. Then, the surgeon will sew a new section of tubing (an artificial tube called a graft) into place to replace the damaged area.
Some people with aortic aneurysms may also need to take medication to help keep their blood pressure under control. High blood pressure can damage your aorta and increase your risk for an aneurysm rupture.
