Yes, it can feel strange to look at yourself after drastic facial surgery. Depending on the type of surgery conducted, you may be confronted with a new face that looks unfamiliar and foreign. After all, your facial features are usually something that you’ve grown accustomed to over time and with surgical alterations they can change drastically overnight.
It is also common for patients to experience feelings of self-consciousness or insecurity. This can manifest itself in many ways – confusion, discomfort, even sadness – when looking at their reflection in the mirror post-surgery because they’re not used to seeing such a different version of themselves.
That being said, rest assured that these emotions are completely normal and it's understandable why one would feel overwhelmed or taken aback by such an unexpected transformation! Over time, as you become accustomed to your new looks and adjust to this newfound sense of self-confidence (provided by the successful results of the surgery!), most people find comfort in their improved appearance and outlook on life!
