Dr. Sumit Mehta

This review is based on my personal experience. We referred to all the top doctors possible in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Hyderabad by our network of friends/family. Before we met any doctor, we shortlisted the best ones on basis of their academia, years of experience, patient reviews on google etc. After meeting in-person with all the shortlisted ones I decided to get operated by Dr Sumit Mehta due to the confidence expressed in eradicating the stone completely. He was very patient while answering all my queries. Explains all the possible options that are best for his patients. He isn’t pushy like others and doesn’t take you for a ride. He is in-fact blunt when it comes to logical reasoning, empathetic, non-judgmental. This was critical for me as few male doctors are extremely judgemental when they know that I am 30+ unmarried female, have a habit of giving unsolicited advices on marriage, having kids etc., it’s mentally tough to visit doctors/hospitals for any health reasons. I underwent mini-perc surgery which was technically challenging due to stone being located at lower calyx. Dr. Sumit did an incredible work of removing 2 stones without breaking them. During my first consultation, he confidently told me that no report gives you correct size and number of stones present,as a matter of fact, he was right. Post surgery we were shown two stones where reports always showed one stone in KUB sonography of the 10mm and in KUB CT of 13mm. People who are on homeopathy/Ayurveda pseudoscience meds claim that their stone size has reduced, which isn’t possible and are completely misguided. Hence it’s highly important to get treated by real doctors who are experts in their field. The entire surgery process was smooth. l was walking within 24 hours. After anaesthesia wore off, had an onset of fever on 3rd day but the medication worked well and was discharged the next day. I have been recovering very well since then. Post 2 weeks of surgery ,KUB sonography showed no stones at all. I had zero anxiety on the day of surgery as it was not only about trust or faith but getting operated from a very well trained surgeon is what mattered the most, especially for surgeries like Mini-perc which requires high expertise. DR. Sumit Mehta is a Highly skilled specialist in his field of Urology, needless to mention about his expertise & experience, he is one of the top Urologist doctors especially in Navi Mumbai. Have known him since 2018, where I had met him for the first time for treating my Kidney stone since then he is like a family doctor to us, because he has not only treated me but recently treated my father n law as well for his prostate. I always believe that having a good doctor around is a big relief but what's more important is apart from his known expertise and how good he is at giving you the right medical guidance, it is important for him to be very easy to talk to, be a good listener, approachable and make you feel comfortable. Dr. Sumit Mehta is an impeccable doctor. His positivity and confidence along with his years of experience in the field helps you to feel calm and collected through the entire procedure. Everytime we met with him he was extremely polite and addressed all our concerns. Dr. Sumit Mehta is * caring and genuine person who always recommends the best treatment in the most cost effective way to his patients. My husband (who has BP & Diabetes) had kidney stone problem which reoccurred once again however with proper treatment and under care of Dr. Mehta he is perfectly fine now and Dr. Mehta also recommended us his personal dietician for keeping a check on my husbands diet. My mother has been Dr. Mehta’s patient for over 2 decades but back in 2019, my aging father also needed to consult a urologist and get treated by for his prostate issue. Our obvious choice was Dr.Mehta. He is a doctor par excellence with great empathy. He is an excellent doctor and a lovely human being as well. Not once has he hurried us or not taken time to explain and settle the patient. He takes time to comfort the patient and the guardian/attendee so not only one is prepared but also not scared as you know your is safe and able hands.
