KS kalra, 60 years, Mohali, Punjab Being diabetic for the last 35 years, I developed hypertension and acute kidney nonfunctional issues. It was very painful to get dialysis twice a week. Looking at deteriorating health, I decided to go renal transplant asap. Then we had to look for certain important aspects like- 1. Identifying my potential Kidney donor 2. Search for highly skilled Renal transplant surgeons. 3. Quality Hospital with modern facilities and supported by passionate staff for post operative care . Since I was longstanding diabetic and my age was also around 60, We as family searched extensively in cities like Delhi and Chennai to have the best facilities and expertise. Looking at the expertise, logistics and difficulties in follow up process, we zeroed in on our local hospitals in tricity. Out of all the local hospitals in Tricity, We decided to go with Fortis hospital Mohali . In the process we met Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan , the renal transplant surgeon to understand the options for surgery, who was diligent enough to offer us the option of a Robotic Kidney transplant. On getting the clear understanding of Robotic surgery , we were able to take the final call and all related formalities were initiated. Since we did not have the same blood group donor in our family, swapping was considered as the best option and Dr Ranjan’s team helped us in preparation for the same. Now It is almost 2 months when I was operated for robotic kidney transplant surgery by Dr Ranjan . The benefits of robotic surgery were clearly evident from the day one as there was only one small cut with few holes on stomach which started healing so fast that hardly any post operation pain was there and recovery truly happened at very quick pace. The experience is so relieving and satisfactory with all parameters like creatinine , Urea and salts are well within normal range. The surgery through robotics technology has shown unbelievable & remarkable distinction over the normal surgery and has surpassed our expectation whatever was promised to us. Needless to say, Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan is highly passionate and skilful transplant surgeon with magical hands. Robotic transplant surgery has clear cut edge over conventional open transplant surgery with key results like- smaller cut ( almost one fifth), less blood loss, least pain, faster recovery and no side effects or no infection. Post operative care in Transplant ICU was excellent and I was discharged from hospital early as expected . Will Highly recommend the Robotic kidney transplant surgery over the conventional one with technologically advanced SMART technique by Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan, who is the best among medical fraternity.

Capt. Rajiv Kumar 6 years ago

Being a navy captain myself, I was a charismatic traveller until I discovered I had chronic kidney disease. Hello there! Myself Capt. Rajiv from Bihar. I was suffering from cronic kidney disease since 2005 . My journey of medical uncertainty started since then. I had consulted almost all the big names in the field of Nephrology, Urology and Transplantation in the country. At this point I would like to mention that my root cause of kidney problem was urological disorder since my childhood. I went through many surgeries including twice bilateral uretric reimplant. Despite best efforts of various other doctors still I suffered from huge financial loss and physical debility and ended up on dialysis bed in the month of April 2018. I decided to go for my kidney transplant and my wife was my potential donor. When I went to my treating nephro and uro they refused her to consider for donation. One more thing I would like to mention since this point no doctor told me the route cause of my problem. Everybody said after this surgery things will be back to normal but no one actually knew how is it going to happen. At this point of disappointment one of my Known recommended me to Great Doctor Priyadarshi Ranjan!!! I accessed his YouTube videos and decided to give a last go. I came to visit him with my wife frankly with no hope!!! . But once I met Dr. Ranjan, I saw a big ray of light of my normal life. He gave me full access on my disease. He explained me everything in very logical, scientific and practical way and Gave me the real reason that my route cause is Neurogenic bladder which damaged my both kidneys. Believe me at that point only I decided to hand over my fate to him. The way he gave me confidence of successful transplant in logical way, I was totally convinced. I can play blind on this that he is the best transplant surgeon in India and a real gentleman. He also sorted out the problem of my wife for which she was refused for donation. God has given special gift to his hands and he is the doctor you can expect a miracle coming. In my case I can say it with full confidence. During my pre transplant evaluation the staff transplant coordinator nurse was dedicated for us during entire test process just to make sure I should not face any difficulty. All the evaluation was done successfully and in a hassle free manner within the stipulated time. My transplant was done On 2nd December 2019 by the blessed hands of Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan. I was still worried from inside but Dr. Ranjan was fully confident. And I am very much thankful to ** Dr. Ranjan. ICU stay was also vey caring. Specially would like to thanks to all the supporting and coordinating professionally qualified staff of Dr. Ranjan who helped and guided in very decent and cooperative way in all the process starting from day one till now. Now I am feeling great after transplant and my wife is also perfectly all right. I once again thanks to Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan Sir for giving me second life. He is a real miracle man and great human being. May God bless him with all success in his life. Once again thanking you Dr. Ranjan. Name -Capt. Rajiv Kumar * From - Bihar

I am Pawan Kumar Gill, age 56yrs, from Jalandhar. I want to share my journey from Jalandhar to Fortis Hospital, Mohali for Kidney Transplant. I was suffering from High Creatinine Level, TLC and Blood Urea for the past two years and have consulted different hospitals. But after many consultations result was not good and slowly my creatinine went to the highest level. On 8th January 2019, I underwent dialysis at Escort Fortis Hospital at Amritsar. Then I observed that dialysis is not a solution but temporary support only, due to dialysis complication we decided for transplant and my wife Kuljeet Gill stood for donating one of her kidney. Then we decided to consult Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. The name of Dr Ranjan was suggested by a Gurgaon based senior Nephrologist and one of my friend from Jalandhar. Moreover, I searched in social media that "Dr Ranjan is Kidney Man of India". He is reputed for his innovative and dynamic Surgical capabilities. He is the most successful Kidney Transplant surgeon. After successful surgery on 26/02/2019 and now under regular consultation in OPD. All the TICU staff and OPD sisters are very cooperative and familiar. I never felt I m in a hospital, always feel like sitting with my own family. Kudos to Dr Ranjan & his team. Thank you, Dr Ranjan, for giving me new hope. Many more will be benefited from your experience. It is truly said that doctors are next to God. In my case, it is proved also. I’m Barpinder Singh Sandhu age 25 years recently I’m living in British Columbia, Canada. In May 2018 I had mild pain in my lungs. I went to the doctor in Welland he gave me antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. After that when I went for a chest x-ray and there was cavitation in the upper lobes of both lungs. Then I went to a hospital in Niagara Falls and the story was the same. There they diagnosed that I am suffering from tuberculosis. After that respirologist did a bronchoscopy and didn’t find tuberculosis as sputum cultures were also negative. I moved to British Columbia from Ontario in June. Over there I went to surrey memorial hospital and they diagnosed that I am done with my kidneys and my creatinine level was 928. After the report of kidney biopsy, I came to know that the reason behind my kidney failure is ANCA VASCULITIS. I was on dialysis three times a week from 2nd August 2018. Doctors over there told me that we can’t go for transplantation before June 2019 and after that, the doctor will decide how long it will take to get a transplant. No time limits. During that time I have searched for good nephrologist in India. Because I wanted to get treatment in India. I came to know about Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan. I decided to visit the doctor as soon as possible. I came to India on 22nd December 2018. I had a good conversation with doctor Ranjan and he told me to get permission from Rheumatologist before transplant. After getting approval from Rheumatologist, I have done with my all tests and then the whole team planned transplant on 11th March 2019. So finally with the efforts of every single person of team (Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan, Dr Somesh, Dr Anuradha, Priyanka, Reena, Shashi, Varinder, Kiran ) transplant was successful. After transplant nursing staff in TICU was so co-operative. And now I’m perfect and living my healthy life and I will go back soon. Name - Barpinder Singh Sandhu UHID - 1754620 From - Canada *

I am enthralled to pen down my experience after my life saving kidney transplant. I was leading a very painful life on dialysis since 2015. As suggested by doctors, there are only two options of treatment of kidney failure- first one dialysis and other one is transplant. Due to my ignorance, I chose first one which was my bad decision, mostly due to fear and ignorance about a transplant. Going to hospital and plug yourself with a machine for four hours twice a week was a terrible torture, that I underwent for more than a couple of years, when my nerves broke down and I wanted to take all the risks for a desperate transplant in 2019. After a thorough combined search for my transplant we came across Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan, based in chandigarh at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. I interacted with a few of his patients before I decided to meet Ranjan sir. After meeting him I realised his confident, friendly and approachable nature is very attractive for any patient. A brief conversation with him made me decide in no time that he is the one I have been looking for. Sir’s confidence and meeting many of patients even from my state Madhya Pradesh, made me feel secure and I already started having a feeling of leading a healthier life. His team of Transplant coordinators are very generous, knowledgeable and supportive and thoroughly connected to each of his patients. They supported me throughout from document preparations to surgery and were approachable, whenever I needed. Finally the day came 21st October 2019 when the surgery was done. I would like to thank my brother who gave me second life. I am very obliged to Dr.Priyadarshi Ranjan sir and all the staff for their kind and supportive nature. I would like to end with two very important messages- that Dialysis should not be the preferred choice as told by many doctors and one should always see if transplant is a possibility and prefer a transplant always over dialysis. Secondly finding a great surgeon, great team and a great hospital is very important to keep you hail and hearty after a transplant. Many a times meeting the right doctor is the best step you can take for yourself. Today after a couple of months after my transplant, I have no words to express my gratitude for Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan sir, whom I was fortunate to approach and also towards my brother who donated his kidney selflessly to save my life. His treatment style is very unique ** I am now enrolled in the post transplant rehabilitation programme, where I get so much information about my follow up, medicines, nutrition, exercise and various other aspects of care after a transplant to get the maximum benefits of this new kidney.
