CURRENT POSITION 2009-current. I have performed over 4000 cases independently. In the unit i perform operations such as ASD,VSD ,TOF,TAPVC,Arterial and atrial switches, Fontan ,Rastelli ,double switches ,Ross operations,Nikaidoh Bex .Double root translocation and Norwood operations apart from heart transplants. On an Average about 300 operations have been done annually since the last 7 years. I have operated substantial number of cases abroad as part of charity camps. Some important contributions have been in the field of 3D printing, Root transfers and paediatric Heart transplants. For couple of years (2015-2016) we have been sharing data with European society and Boston children Hospital for audit to improve clinical outcomes. WORK EXPERIENCE - CARDIOTHORACIC SURGERY Consultant-2007-2009- Operated both adult and paediatric cases independently and also supervised training of M.ch trainee residents. The case range includes 1) Coronary Surgery-Performing mostly beating heart and on Pump. 2) Valve Surgery-Have done both Mitral valve replacement and Aortic valve replacement. Also performed Mitral valve repair, and Aortic root enlargement procedures for small aortic annulus. 3) Have performed combination procedures such as CABG and Mitral valve replacement and Aortic Valve replacement and Aortic Root replacement. (Bentall Procedure) and Yacoub repair for VSD and AR. 4) The Madras Medical Mission-2009-2012- I have been operating independently and have performed ASD,VSD,Tetralogy of Fallot,TOF with absent pulmonary valve,AV canal repair,Single Ventricle repair(BD Glenn and Extracardiac Fontan), Redo surgeries, Homograft repairs, TAPVC, Cortriatriatum, ALCAPA and Surgery for Ebsteins anomaly, Truncus arteriosus repair, Senning repair, Arterial switches ,Ross operation etc. I have a large experience with repair of TAPVC using the superior approach (Tuckers) and also of repairing Sinus Venosus ASD using the Wardens technique. Specialist Registrar-2003-2007- In UCL-London Alderhey Hospital Liverpool Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast. The training was in CABG, Valves and congenital heart operations and other routine operations where I assisted and performed cases under supervision, managed the pts in ICU postoperative and carried out OPDs independently on behalf of my consultant. Operations done abroad On behalf of Fortis Hospital-Between 2015-2017 In Iraq –Operated twice in Karbala, and once in Erbil Kurdistan .On each occasion operated roughly 10 cases. Special Interest- 1) Neonatal surgeries- esp the Arterial switch operation. Clinical Research and innovation-Postoperative follow-up of arterial switch operation in babies with CT scan to see how the anatomy changes (being the first study from Asia). 2) Development of first 3D heart model in India to plan surgery better and as better tool of understanding complex congenital anatomy of heart. 3) Paediatric Heart transplant-performed the first paediatric cardiac transplant in the state of Maharashtra. 4)Root Translocation operation for TGA VSD PS.
