Q. How many years can a person live with HIV/AIDS?
Doctor Answer is medically reviewed by SecondMedic medical review team.
Although there is no scientific evidence that black seed oil can cure HIV, recent research has suggested that it may hold some promise in helping to treat the virus. A study done by the University of Bonn found that a combination of thymoquinone and apigenin, two compounds found in black seed oil, was able to slow the replication of HIV cells by as much as 80%.
Additionally, other studies have suggested that components of black seed oil – specifically thymol and thymohydroquinone - could potentially increase the effectiveness of existing antiretroviral therapies (ARVs). By boosting the potency of ARVs, these components could enhance immune system recovery and reduce HIV-associated symptoms or complications.
At this point in time however it’s important to note that these findings are only suggestive rather than definitive. Further clinical trials will be necessary before any claims about using black seed oil for curing or managing HIV can be made with certainty. Until then, it’s best to consult your physician if you’re considering taking any type of herbal supplement for treating an infectious disease.
